A Day To Celebrate The True Meaning And Significance Of A Woman

International Women's Day, also called International Working Women's Day, is celebrated on March 8 every year.

In different regions the focus of the celebrations ranges from general celebration of respect, appreciation and love towards women to a celebration for women's economic, political, and social achievements. Started as a Socialist political event, the holiday blended in the culture of many countries, primarily in Europe, including Russia.
In some regions, the day lost its political flavor, and became simply an occasion for men to express their love for women in a way somewhat similar to a mixture of Mother's Day and Valentine's Day. In other regions, however, the political and human rights theme designated by the United Nations runs strong, and political and social awareness of the struggles of women worldwide are brought out and examined in a hopeful manner. This is a day which some people celebrate by wearing purple ribbons.

International Women’s Day is a time to reflect on progress made, to call for change and to celebrate acts of courage and determination by ordinary women who have played an extraordinary role in the history of their countries and communities. This year’s theme, “Empowering Women - Empowering Humanity: Picture It!" envisions a world where each woman and girl can exercise her choices, such as participating in politics, getting an education, having an income, and living in societies free from violence and discrimination.

In 2015, International Women’s Day will highlight the Beijing Declaration and Platform for Action, a historic roadmap signed by 189 governments 20 years ago that sets the agenda for realizing women’s rights. While there have been many achievements since then, many serious gaps remain. This is the time to uphold women’s achievements, recognize challenges, and focus greater attention on women’s rights and gender equality to mobilize all people to do their part.

International Women's Day is an occasion to take stock of progress made towards achieving gender equality and women's empowerment. Although progress has been made, we are still a long way from achieving gender equality worldwide. There is no single country in the world where women have achieved full equality and full enjoyment of their rights.

This alone should emphasize the need to keep a strong focus on gender equality and women's rights in the 2015 development agenda. Women have a vital contribution to make to the achievement of peaceful and sustainable societies. We need to ensure that they participate fully and enjoy equal rights in all domains.

UNESCO is working in all it areas of competence to promote gender equality and women's rights. Gender Equality has been one of our two global priorities since 2008 and will continue to be a priority for the organization. We use both gender mainstreaming and gender-specific programming to ensure that we promote gender equality and women's rights through all our activities.

Pickyouropinion Holi Celebration: BURA NA MAANO, HOLI HAI

Holika burned, Prahlada survived. Vishnu appeared and killed Hiranyakashipu. The bonfire is a reminder of the symbolic victory of good over evil, of Prahlada over Hiranyakashipu, of fire that burned Holika. The day after Holika bonfire is celebrated as Holi.

Holi - the festival of colors - is undoubtedly the most fun-filled and boisterous of Hindu festival. It's an occasion that brings in unadulterated joy and mirth, fun and play, music and dance, and, of course, lots of bright colors! With winter neatly tucked up in the attic, it's time to come out of our cocoons and enjoy this spring festival.
Every year it is celebrated on the day after the full moon in early March and glorifies good harvest and fertility of the land. It is also time for spring harvest. The new crop refills the stores in every household and perhaps such abundance accounts for the riotous merriment during Holi.

Entire country wears a festive look when it is time for Holi celebration. Market places get abuzz with activity as frenzied shoppers start making preparations for the festival. Heaps of various hues of gulal can be seen on the roadside days before the festival. Pichkaris in innovative and modern design too come up every year to lure the children who wish to collect them as Holi memorabilia and of course, to drench everybody in the town.

Everybody gets delighted at the arrival of Holi as the season itself is so gay. During Holi, practices, which at other times could be offensive, are allowed. Squirting colored water on passers-by, dunking friends in mud pool amidst teasing and laughter, getting intoxicated on bhang and reveling with companions is perfectly acceptable. Some, however, take bhang in excess and spoil the spirit. Caution should therefore be taken while consuming bhang delicacies.

After a fun filled and exciting day, the evenings the spent in sobriety when people meet friends and relatives and exchange sweets and festive greetings. It is said the spirit of Holi encourages the feeling of brotherhood in society and even the enemies turn friend on this day.

In a way, Holi is a means for the people to ventilate their 'latent heat' and experience strange physical relaxations. People of all communities and even religions participate in this joyous and colorful festival and strengthen the secular fabric of the nation.
If wishes come in rainbow colors then,

Pickyouropinion would send the brightest one to say BURA NA MAANO, HOLI HAI!

EXPECTATIONS FROM UNION BUDGET 2015

Ever since BJP has been elected as the ruling party of India with mammoth support, banishing Congress totally it has been evident that they need to perform. A lot has been expected from BJP and dynamic Narendra Modi who has made a lot of promises to the people of this country.

Hence, the people of this country await the fulfillment of these promises as they become more and more impatient. In the upcoming budget which will be out in two days, it is expected that it will be a common man’s budget, fulfilling the needs of common man. Arun Jaitley the finance minister will be bringing the budget out.

•    Ever since BJP has been elected into power, the PM Narendra Modi has been emphasizing on the fact that business need to be promoted in India. Then took birth the concept of ‘Make in India’ which invited all big companies to come to India and manufacture here which will help a lot. It will help in promoting investments in India which is need of the hour, it will elevate employment to a great extent, all multinational companies will be encouraged to do business in India which will promote win all situation.

•    Buying a home in India has always been an uphill task for a middle class man and for a lower class man a thing of the dreams. Loan rates are so high that a person’s salary would go in paying off the EMI’s every month. This is a very disappointing fact since we work so hard and earn, and if we cannot manage to buy a home for ourselves then certainly India has not progressed over the years.

•    Gone are the days when people died of Tuberculosis. Medicine has progressed massively over the years and has saved millions of lives with the help of world class treatments in five star hotels. But the question which arises here is how much do these hospitals ask you to pay? Can every citizen of this country have access to the treatments they provide? The fact is clear that the government hospitals, the only resort for lower middle class are in awful condition with no amenities. The health services need to be improved and improved magically without any wastage of time.

•    Education has always been an obsolete term in India. With India’s population increasing day by day, the first question which arises in the parent’s minds when a child is born is how will we educate our child? The school which we dream to send our child in charged lacs of rupees as donation. This is what the middle class has to think. The lower middle class, even in the 21st century consider education as a privilege rather than a right! Again the government schools just do not cater to the needs of the students. It is needed to be elevated to a higher level with a lot of improvements. Education is an area which if focused on, with this kind of population; if every single person is educated then India would no doubt become the most powerful country in the world.

These are the basic things which need to be concentrated on by the ruling party BJP. The budget is an important test for the ruling party which if they pass then it puts a positive impact on the people. However if they fail in it then the consequences are not so overwhelming. We hope that the Budget 2015 caters to the majority of population of India, i.e. the middle class.

The whole week of Valentine’s Day is celebrated; starting from rose day, propose day, chocolate day, teddy day, promise day, hug day, kiss day and ends at Valentine’s Day.

It is said that love has no language; it can be expressed in any way the two people understand each other, understand each other’s feelings. Valentine's Week 2015: A Very Happy Promise Day

What does love or any other relation mean without assurances, without commitments, without promises?

Promise day is celebrated on the 5th day of the valentine week, i.e. just 3 days before THE VALENTINE’S DAY. This is the day, when you promise your partner to always be there with him/her, no matter what happens.
You can’t promise to give your loved one the world, but of course try to give a happy life. You can’t always promise to never ever make a mistake, but try the best you can.

You can’t promise that you’ll catch him/her whenever they will fall, but you can promise to always be close by so that you can always help to backup. You can never promise to make your love last forever as in fairytales, but promise to create ever lasting memories.

This is the day to speak without ego, live without intentions and care without expectations but just promise to be there in thick and thin. On this day lovers all over the world make promises to keep their relationship strong.

They share their feelings with their loved ones and promise them for a relationship. Out of all other days of the valentine’s week, this is the day with the deepest meaning. Your proposals, your roses, your hugs, your kisses or even your valentine won’t mean a thing without promises.

This word seems easy to spell and write though, but has a real heavy and a deep meaning, atleast for those who realize the worth of it!

All the sweet promises are made on this day, but do we really now need a declared or a special day to make promises to our loved ones?

Promises are not a matter of days they depend on the bond and the relation two people share. It is not important have your girlfriend or boyfriend for this, but any person you love, any person you admire or respect.

Love comes with a lot of responsibilities, commitments & promises. Make some new promises and try to fulfill old ones to concrete your relationship. “Promise little and do much.”

Happy promise day!

People knew him only as a character but after he appeared on the show, people started to love him even more.

Gautam Gulati always used to pull off his shirt on ‘choti choti baatein’ and made everyone love his sexy body. Even Salman Khan complimented him for his style and attitude. He had clear attention seeking tactics considering his romance with Diandra Soares or sharing the bed with Sonali Raut. He also was regarded as a true ‘nautanki’ keeping in mind the way he speaks and the psycho behavior he displays before all.

Gautam's foothold in the show was such that whether it was his fellow contestants or the wildcard contestants -- none could weaken his presence either in the Bigg Boss house or in the minds of viewers. He piped Karishma Tanna, who was the runner-up in the show, followed by Pritam Singh as the second runner-up.

Even if Gautam didn’t accept his relationship with Diandra, still he managed to get votes and the audience supported him. Instead, many people said Diandra was not right but Gautam was appreciated in Bigg Boss 8.

Gautam had always been very humble and gave more importance to relations than the game.He defeated all other contestants and won the game!
