Education System In India

Education has been a great concern in our country and the paucity of the same has been blamed for all varieties of evil for centuries. A lot of renowned people too have thoroughly emphasized on the importance of education. But honestly, its weird that a very little has changed since 1947.

India has come up with a lot of worldly acclaimed universities like the IIM’s and other institutions of great eminence. It astonishing that students are so bright and yet fail to get admission in the college of their preference.

There was a time when getting first division meant the apex of ecstasy for the family as well as the child. But today, the scenario is so different. Students getting 98% are looked down upon. The one up man ship attitude has taken a toll on the healthy learning environment everywhere.

Our education system primarily focuses on the the rote learning concept, instead of application. Because of which , pupils only study to get a high percentage for their exams and don't really care about the intrinsic value of education. Knowledge is blotted out as soon as the semester exam is over. It a shame that even teachers now a days don't focus on the mental development of the child, rather give negative reinforcement, if their answers are not in correspondence to the text.

As a result of which every succeeding year students devote themselves to cramming information. The unsurpassed crammers get honored by the system. Creative thinkers are mocked upon. Asking questions in the class is jocular.

I mean do we call this as education? Teachers today are just squandering the valuable time of children. At the end of the month they will get what they are assigned for, but is the fee payed by the student, worth ? Because clearly, the student is not benefited.

Hence, the need of the hour is to redefine the education system in India. It has to hold on tight to the latest technology. Especially internet, which is a boon in disguise. We’ve got to spread internet in the far off villages, which may seem like a distant dream at the moment, but something which may eventually happen if we start once.

Additionally, all schools must have e-learning, so that the knowledge gained can actually be put into practice. Also, private capital should be allowed in the educational sphere. We all are well aware of the fact that India is a developing country, thus we cannot expect much from the government knowing the current status of our debts. But yet again, we have to ensure regular checks on the private institutions as well, so that they don't just aim at commercializing .

I have a strong belief that if we as responsible people take steps in the right direction, we might just end up with a whole new education system in India.

Guru Jee

Teachers are considered as lamp bearers. They enlighten light in our life in the form of knowledge and inspiration. Teachers are nation builders as they mould human beings from our fellow creatures which owe them lot of respect. Her endeavour crafted a sculpture of mere perfection out of a raw stone. Like weaver weaves clothes, teacher weave our personality. She polishes her students like a cobbler polishes shoes, glittering like gold and the list is endless.

As teacher plays so many roles, 5th September is celebrated as the teacher’s day or Guru Utsav every year. This day is birth anniversary of Dr. Radha Krishnan, who was a great learned man, a great person and a renowned teacher. Teacher not only teaches books, they teach us the real meaning of life and education, our goals, roles. They teach us how to come out of our problems. They are one who take effort to make us settle on soft cushion of values. The work of teacher is eligible for noble prize because teacher is the source of revolution in a society where a person starts with good ideas and others get inspired from them and act a source of another revolution.

During my school time, I experienced real meaning of teacher. She played an important role in my life. She planted a plant by watering my seeds. Sometimes I think, if was not in my life, then my life would not be too balanced. She made me learn real meaning of life and my priorities. Because of her I am living my life with positive thoughts. She not only taught us history of kings and rulers in the classroom, but during her teaching we were driven to another world.
Because of their belief in us we live so openly. When required she scolded and on other hand she held our hand in our need. A teacher is the best example of a patient person, no matter what she is going through, she tries to teach with her best efforts and smile.

Here is a small poem by my grandfather which is a tribute to the teachers.

How are we to know a true teacher?
How are we to know a true preacher?
Sun requires no torch to make him visible
Even if he is behind the clouds and invisible

When a teacher comes to help us in our life
Benefit, depends on us, how much we strive
Intellect will instinctively know plus and minus point
Be sure, faith in teacher must grow without joint

Teacher, where wisdom and truth shine
            It is God’s blessing, don’t under-mine
Like the light of the sun, itself is shown
It is open truth, the world has known

They are respected and worshipped as God
By the majority of people with mind broad
The condition necessary for the taught is purity
A real thirst for knowledge must be his surety

They are the human life’s fairest flowers
The ocean of mercy, without any motives and lovers
The avatar’s of Ishwara are another set of teacher
They are the higher and nobler than all ordinary preachers

They are the one we are bound to worship
            Don’t feel lonely
We can see God through them as a man only

The young generation should not forget the blessings of their teacher. They should feel lucky to have such teachers.

Don’t forget people, your guide, teacher who motivate you in tough time and make you stronger and are always there in your journey towards success.

Education Shaping Lives

We are living in 21st century, where at every step technology is getting advanced. But in the same century there are chunk of people who don’t even know how to write. Education is a basic necessity. It prepares, widens and allows exposure to the entire world through the mind. A sound education implies better quality of thoughts, which results in superlative quality of life. It is a portal for betterment. The Government of India has made “Right to Education” a basis fundamental right. Despite this right there are many such deprived people who are not able to get even primary education.
We found high quality of education is provided in urban or metro cities to people. But at the same time when we look at the rural areas or remote areas, they are being neglected. Majority of population of India still lives in villages, so the topic of rural education in India is utmost important. According to a survey report Annual Status of Education Report (ASER), the number of rural student attending school is rising, but more than half of fifth grade students are unable to read a second grade text book. Not only this the level of reading and maths is further declining. When ask about the failure in education in rural India to Prof.(Dr.) Abhay Kumar, Head of Institute of Business Management, Mangalayatan University , he says “The reasons why we have failed to educate rural India is not far to seek. According to me main reasons are Lack of proper transportation, per capita Income of rural areas is low, lack of proper infrastructure, upbringing of children in rural areas in comparison to urban areas, lack of teachers in school, lack of gainful employment opportunities, lack of proper mentorship, lack of basic computer education, lack of promotion of entrepreneurship”

In rural school quality and access to education is major concern as there is lack of text book and learning material, fewer committed teachers in schools. Though the government schools exits in the areas but when compare with private schools, quality is the major issue. In today’s scenario people living in the villages have understood the importance of education and know that it is the only way to get rid of the poverty. But due to lack of money they are depended upon the government schools for education and are not able to send their children in private schools.

Most of the textbook are in English today and the rural people either speak their native language or the Hindi. So difficulty in understanding their text book, their poverty and lack of facilities are the hurdle in their education. And at the same time course which is being taught to these students are outdate. They use traditional methods to teach the students. When ask about solutions to these challenges to Dr. D.V. Rai, Vice Chancellor of Shobhit University, Gangoh, Says “According to me solutions can be connect teachers directly with students through a digital marketplace, a virtual curriculum based on my needs as a student, University learning is linear, one size fits all, Self-directed learning”

To lay a strong foundation to turn India into strong nation one should has strong roots at primary and rural levels. A genuine rural students should be encouraged who are interested in education and then competent. There are lot of example of success in rural education like the Barefoot College, 8 Day Academy and Gurukul School in Bihar.
Let us try to build a solution around these problems which will resolve the overall issues of rural Education in India.
