Bigg Boss 8 which merged into Bigg Boss Halla Bol!, was the eighth season of the Indian reality television series Bigg Boss, which premiered on TV channel Colors from 21st September 2014 and concluded on 3rd January 2015 with five final contestants, out of which Gautam Gulati emerged as the winner.
Gautam won Rs.50 lakhs and a car as the winning prize. The actor said he had a very stressful journey but he is happy that it paid off."Days were not easy. When people turned against me it did get difficult. But I knew I had to take a stand for myself. I am glad I stood firm. Puneet ji was my support in the house.
We connected and I knew he was a lovely man. Though sometimes he used bad words but he never meant bad. He was straightforward like me. So, we bonded. He was always there with me," the actor said.He was not only a contestant of the show but had risen to fame soon after his show “Diya aur Baati Hum”. People knew him only as a character but after he appeared on the show, people started to love him even more.
Gautam was always in news for some reason or the other ever since the show started. In the starting of the show, when he got into a spat with Karishma for violence and feeling guilty for it later on, he was not appreciated by anyone but later gained sympathy votes as well, after he apologized.
Gautam Gulati always used to pull off his shirt on ‘choti choti baatein’ and made everyone love his sexy body. Even Salman Khan complimented him for his style and attitude. He had clear attention seeking tactics considering his romance with Diandra Soares or sharing the bed with Sonali Raut. He also was regarded as a true ‘nautanki’ keeping in mind the way he speaks and the psycho behavior he displays before all.
Gautam's foothold in the show was such that whether it was his fellow contestants or the wildcard contestants -- none could weaken his presence either in the Bigg Boss house or in the minds of viewers.He piped Karishma Tanna, who was the runner-up in the show, followed by Pritam Singh as the second runner-up.
He always tried to give a lot of drama and masala to the show by doing anything and everything to compete with others and be a part of the show till the end. Many people started loving Gulati because of this reason and he made a lot of fans in this process. Gautam also became the winner because of his killer looks.
Blessed with killer looks, Gautam was the choice for every second other lady around us. Even if Gautam didn’t accept his relationship with Diandra, still he managed to get votes and the audience supported him. Instead, many people said Diandra was not right but Gautam was appreciated in Bigg Boss 8.
Gautam had always been very humble and gave more importance to relations than the game.He defeated all other contestants and won the game!
